Chapter 6: Lead the way
I stood my ground and said: “To the Johnson’s Hotel.” Kylie and Maisie said in sync: “The who what now hotel?” Claire said: “The Johnson’s Hotel, girls.” She giggled. Dad said: “Oh of course, The news building was supposed to drop us off there!” Mom said: “But what about the other 120 people? The ones at the community center?” Owen sighed and said: “I’m assuming they must have scattered around the city or if lucky enough- fled.”
We all fell silent and the noises echoing from the dinosaurs took over. Then I broke the silence, and tried to make it less- awkward by blurting: “I have all the info on how to get there, because I saved it for an emergency, and now is one. And I have a plan to get there, So here’s my plan: Dad can say go right and left for directions and Owen can help us be careful while traveling across the dinosaurs!” Owen and Dad said at the same time: “Sounds good to me”.
Chuckling erupted mixed with dinosaur bellows and roaring. We jumped and did some-what parkour and things that were so cool (and surprised me) but- about 10 times we almost fell through the dinosaurs. Heh. Anyways, when we reached there it started raining. We went inside and darted towards the front desk. Owen said: “The Channel 8 News Center booked us a room here” Then the lady said in a bored register person’s voice and said: “Your ticket please.”
Everyone looked at me and I looked a little mischievous. I dug into my pocket but it wouldn’t come out, I struggled a little and I heard Kylie giggling behind me and narrowed my eyes at Kylie, Maisie poked Kylie to stop and I nodded, satisfaction flowed through my veins.
Finally I pulled out my paper and I saw 7 tickets with our names on them and took them off of the tape then said to the lady and gave it to her: “Here are our tickets, room keys please.” I said, with a sly smile and a raised eyebrow. She really thought she was gonna get us!
She looked shocked and gave me the key and then I started walking in slow-motion and swinging the keys around my fingers, and then- my luck struck, they dropped. I smiled nervously at the lady who looked half board and half happy to get her revenge. Then I luckily heard keys jingling behind me and Owen had caught them! We all walked in slow-motion having some fun.
At our hotel room, me, Kylie and Maisie started to slightly jump on the bed and be goofy. Mom and Claire were in the kitchen making some snacks, and dad and Owen discussed some stuff, and I avoided eavesdropping because mom said that’s not respectful. Mom and Claire came over to give the snacks, And Mom started to say: “These dinosaurs can’t stay here forever.” Claire nodded. Dad twisted and looked back and suggested: “Maybe we could take them to a dinosaur containment unit that properly takes care of them?” Just then Owen gasped as though he realized something. He said: “Jurassic world had a containment unit for the new untrained dinosaurs and uncontrollable dinosaurs!”
Claire gasped and seemed as though she was starting to remember too and said: “I remember their number!” She immediately went to the phone and dialed the number. She said:”Hello is this the Jurassic World containment unit? Oh wonderful, wonderful. Oh me? I am Claire Dearing. Remember? Yep, Mhm. Yea actually that is the reason I am calling, me and 6 other people want to send some dinosaurs there please. Yea. I understand you have your hands full but- Yes please, uh- I don’t think all of us can bring those dinosaurs all the way for 46 km- No no, Hmm.” Me, Maisie and Kylie shouted loud enough for the phone to hear: “We can do it!”
The lady luckily heard us and she said: “Ok bring it to us by Wednesday, so the day after tomorrow thank you.” The lady cut the call. Claire said to the phone: “Hello-o hello???” Kylie assured: “She cut the call” Mom sighed in disbelief of even completing this mission and worry. Mom finally said: “What are we supposed to do?” Mom was barely able to get the words out her mouth and she frowned when she finished.
